LAS VEGAS - At KBIS 2014, Wellborn Cabinet showed many more colors and finishes to reflect consumer deisgn trends, and announced it is adding more of its current paints and paints with glazes to its MDF door styles in its price-conscious Premier Series.

Last November, Wellborn Cabinets announced its intentions with new finish options to be available beginning March 2014.  At KBIS these and other new variations were one display. Colors and finish techniques reflect major cabinetry finish design trends, some that are almost diametrically opposed.

For instance, cabinetry is stained or painted with grey, or washed finishes - with a room setting sometimes punctuated by a single cabinet area in a bright color. All these different finishing styles, which can coexist in a single houshold or room design, were seen throughout KBIS 2014 cabinetry displays.

Wellborn also announce its first-ever color palette program, ColorScapes™. An individualized finish on new cabinetry. Wellborn says its own highly trained color masters will create any color specified in its  standard paint finish using the Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, or Valspar color decks. Available on  its Maple and MDF door styles, ColorScapes is offered in the Estate Custom Collection and the Elegant Bath Collection.

Wellborn also will begin offering a Brush Finish technique of hand-applied glazewith a subtle brush stroke. This coating overlays the cabinetry paint, providing a depth to the finish. All glazing is inconsistent, providing individual character to each part and piece it is applied to. A Brush Finish is created by a hand brushed technique applied to a contrasting opaque base color to look like a brush painted finish.

Begining October 2014, Brush will be available in a very light, tan color, Fawn; and in five current colors: Glacier, Divinity, Crème, Vanilla, and Pebble. Here are some of the other color systems presented by Wellborn at KBIS 2014:

Blush a brown, red tone on Maple and Character Maple that reflects a cherry appearance. This finish is available with Charcoal or Java glazes, adding an extra detailed touch; in Maple in Wellborn Select Series and on Wellborn Closets. Blush will also available in Maple and Character Maple in the Wellborn Premier Series, Elegant Bath Collection, Estate Custom Collection, and Wellborn Closets.

Dove Wellborn says this color responds to several trends, including the many shades of grey. The new finish Dove is a light grey paint. A counterpart to its Willow finish (a mid-tone grey launched in the summer 2013), Dove will provide more subtle appearance to the growing trend.

Garnet Wellborn adds to its already expansive collection a new, deep, red finish available on Cherry and Character Cherry.

Unfinished Option Wellborn Cabinets has expanded the availability of its unfinished option to its Select Series. It wa previously available on its Premier Series, Elegant Bath Collection, Wellborn Closets and Estate Custom Collection.

Premier Series of Wellborn, Elegant Bath Collection, Wellborn Closets and Estate Custom Collection - See more at: http://www.woodworkingnetwork.com/home-storage-solutions/closet-showroom...

Cloud, as its name suggests, is soft and light translucent stain. It is available with a Slate or Sugar glaze to addbring up detail.

Drift is a finish that pulls color while allowing visibility of the wood detail in the cabinetry.

On its price-conscious MDF cabinet line, Wellborn said at KBIS today that it is adding even more of its current paints and paints with glazes to the price conscious MDF door styles in the Premier Series.

These Belmont and Hartford door styles were both already available in seven paints and paints with glazes. Customers can now choose from 14 more paints, and paints with glazes, in addition to its current offerings, Wellborn says.

TV Icon William Shatner Stars in DIY Network The Shatner ProjectNew York- Space—television icon William Shatner knows all about it, but not how to renovate it. In DIY Network’s newest celebrity home renovation series, The Shatner Project, premiering on Thursday, October 23, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, Shatner stars in a new leading role: project manager of his own home remodel. The six-episode series chronicles William and his wife Elizabeth as they boldly transform their time-warped house into a shining star.

“I bought this house when I finished Star Trek. I jogged by it every day and thought it was beautiful,” said Shatner. “One hundred years ago, the original home was a one-room hunting lodge. Over the decades, it was expanded into a family home and then I bought it in the 1970s.”

The premiere episode features the Shatners, with the help of a designer and a construction crew, as they gut the kitchen for a complete remodel. After the removal of the old, creaky appliances and a “hateful” ice machine, William and Elizabeth get in on the action by wielding sledgehammers to help demolish the old cabinets, countertops and tile backsplashes. The new kitchen—much to William’s disbelief—features multiple ovens and refrigerators.

“The reason I want more appliances is because we entertain a lot,” said Elizabeth. “We often have upward of 30 people here at a time, and because I do all of the cooking, Bill isn’t exactly understanding this request.”

During the series, produced by Scott Sternberg Productions, the couple renovates their 1970s-style California home, including the front patio area in order to create the perfect place for big family parties, as well as remodel Shatner’s favorite hangout spot, the media room.

LAS VEGAS - Wellborn Cabinet, Inc. brings a whole new look for contemporary to KBIS 2015. A contemporary bathroom is detailed by texture through different wood tones while relaying nature’s presence through various features. This design gives a warmth to the environment that often does not exist in contemporary styling. Also, the bathroom is made more versatile than some contemporary rooms because of the causal welcoming that can go along with other design styles.

Styling

Texture is reached through the different wood tones including the Oak cabinets finished in Drift Bronze and the accented walls of Hickory finished in Cloud Slate. The contrast of the two finishes pair in perfect harmony. Horizontal lines are apparent; however, they are eased creating a calm setting. Bristol, a shaker door style, is the choice for the simplistic contemporary cabinetry. Nature is brought into the space with hardware that resembles twigs and the lights made of sticks. This bathroom is a wonderful blend of the outdoor through modest details in a contemporary design.

Function

Along with the floating vanity style cabinetry, which contains storage for all of your bathroom accessories, there are two vanity wall cabinets that make use of wall space containing extra storage solutions. These two cabinets are set flush into the wall maximizing space over the vanity in an unconventional, unique design. They are perfect for storing smaller items such as medicine, nail polish, toothpaste, etc.

About the Design

This is a contemporary bath with a rustic edge. Drift Bronze Oak contrasts with Cloud Slate Hickory for a clean yet textural and dramatic aesthetic. Warm tones of Bronze accent these beautiful finishes.

LAS VEGAS -  At KBIS 2016, Wellborn Cabinet Inc. announced it will offer its first frameless line, with production set to begin the first quarter of 2017. Named Aspire Cabinetry,  the full access frameless line will be manufactured at the company's 1.5 million-square-foot facility in Ashland, Alabama.

According to Angela O'Neill, director of marketing, Aspire will be offered in a range of door styles including wood, textured melamine and metal.  The frameless cabinets will be constructed of  3⁄4-inch thick thermofused melamine end panels, shelves, tops and cabinet bottoms. All doors will have fully concealed Euro cup hinges with a six-way adjustability and self-closing integrated soft close features.

The Aspire Cabinetry was on display at the Wellborn Cabinet booth. Two drawer options will be available: a 5/8 solid wood dovetail drawer with natural finish and a double-sided metal drawer with powder coated steel in silver color. Both drawer guide systems feature full extension and soft close system that close with just a slight touch, she said.

O'Neill said Aspire will be offered in colors common to Wellborn's face-frame lineup, making it easy for dealers and customers to coordinate the two lines.

Dealer reports of significant frameless volume increases spurred Wellborn's move into frameless cabinetry for the first time in the company's 52-year history, she added. That was echoed in a statement from Paul Wellborn, president and CEO in which he noted, “Frameless is on a fast pace increase of use in the U.S. market. We are dedicated to providing our kitchen and bath dealers the products they need to service the market demands.”

O'Neill added, "With this addition to the many brands Wellborn offers including, Wellborn Select and Premier Series, Estate, Closets and Elegant Bath Furniture line, Aspire adds the finishing touch to our product offering.”

“I had a woodworking background instilled in me at a very early age,” said Paul Wellborn, president and CEO of Wellborn Cabinet. “From the time I could remember, my father carried me out to help work on his job sites, construction of homes, and home remodeling. He taught me everything that I needed to know to build homes.”

Wellborn and his brother continued the tradition, first remodeling then cabinetmaking in Florida, before moving back to Alabama. “I believe that one of the main reasons for our success is our company has always remained a family business, from the time we built it until today,” he said. All five of his children and several grandchildren have had a part.

“We continuously bounce ideas off each other to better build the success of Wellborn Cabinet,” he added. “I find it to be a heart-warming success when you can look out in the company and see your children and grandchildren helping keep the family business alive.”

It is not only alive, but thriving. Among the multi-million dollar firm’s success strategies has been the transition to selling products through authorized dealers, and the continued expansion of styles and products, including the recently added Aspire Cabinetry frameless line.

“We are constantly striving to meet our customer’s needs,” he said. The company also takes pride in its fast and  99.9% shipping accuracy rate.

“Our cabinets are ‘Crafted by People Who Care,’” Wellborn added. “We have and will continue to be a vertically integrated manufacturing company, starting at the sawmill. We build in-house, where we can stay up close and personal with our products on a daily basis to make sure [it] is built to our quality standards.”
